What is a DTH (down-the-hole) drill pipe?

A DTH drill pipe is a hollow drill-string component that works between the DTH hammer and the rotary head. Multiple drill pipes are thread-connected to form a complete drill string, which enables the hammer to keep going downwards as drilling is happening.

How does a DTH drill pipe work?

The DTH hammer is powered by compressed high-pressure air reaching bottom hole through drill pipes. Meanwhile, the DTH string transmits torque, feed force and hoisting load between the drilling rig and bottom-hole drill assembly.
