Reverse Circulation Hammers
Our hammers are meticulously engineered to deliver exceptional performance, setting new industry standards. Utilizing the industry-standard REMET and METZKE threads, our hammers ensure flawless airflow, surpassing expectations in global drilling operations, particularly in the Nordic region, where continuous operation is maintained even after drilling depths of up to 250 meters.

At Starockdrill, we continuously optimize our product design to ensure our reverse circulation hammers excel in both dry and wet working conditions. With outstanding performance capabilities, our hammers provide reliable operation and robust support when encountering underground voids and water levels.
The reverse circulation (RC) hammer uses compressed high-pressure air to power a reciprocating piston that delivers energy to the drill bit, which then fractures bottom-hole rock.
During the drilling process, rock cuttings will enter from the drill bit center into the inner sample tube inside the hammer under the influence of high-speed airflow, and are transferred to the surface through the inner tube inside the dual-wall drill pipes, and then separated and collected through sample hose and cyclone.
Unlike conventional DTH drilling where rock cuttings are carried through the annulus between the borehole wall and the drill pipes, reverse circulation drilling uses enclosed inner tube for transferring samples, which reduces the mixture from other layers, helps improve sample quality and reduce contamination.
The reverse circulation hammer is suitable for applications in mineral exploration, grade control and geological sampling.
- Unique tail design delivers increased power, enhancing drilling efficiency.
- Wear-resistant sleeves of various lengths are available to accommodate different drilling formations.
- Single-piece sampling tube components facilitate easy sampling and cleaning, improving sampling efficiency.
- Key components undergo professional heat treatment to enhance wear resistance and corrosion resistance, ensuring stable and reliable performance.
The reverse circulation hammer is a pneumatic drilling component that can perform rock breaking and sampling at the same time. The biggest difference between a DTH drilling and a reverse circulation drilling:
- DTH drilling: The rock cuttings are carried through the annulus between the drill pipes and the borehole to the surface.
- Reverse circulation drilling: The rock cuttings enter from the center of the drill bit into the inner sample tube inside the dual-wall drill pipes and then transferred to the surface.
